Sorry, i did not realize this posted blank yesterday. I typed and posted. Lately this website builder has been giving me some problems. Today we watched the amazing Popcorn Hat players perform tales of Ancient Greece. The performed three mythological stories for us. 1st one was Pandora's Box, 2nd one was Persephone, and the 3rd one was Hercules. I believe, Hercules was their favorite. They laughed the hardest during that one. The boys and girls love watching them. It was a great day. After the performance we only had a little time before lunch, so we put out intentional stations and practiced already taught skills.
I am sorry I did not write blogs for the past couple of days. It was crazy in here and I just did not get to my computer before the end of the day to share our day with you. I am back on track and I will be writing each day and sharing all our accomplishments throughout the day. Today we focused on some dramatic play, sensory play, and imaginative play. The students were able to move freely between each station. Wednesday is Popcorn Hat players. Sorry I didn't get to post yesterday. It was a crazy day! Now that everything has settled down I am back. Yesterday and today was math and language arts. Ms. Tina talked about the R and compound words. The students worked on some pretty cool compound words and practiced putting them together. After that they were able to play with rabbits in coffee grounds. In math we talked about the number 6 and all of its attributes. We read a book about a ladybug celebrating her 6th birthday. The students worked on their number 6 worksheet and practiced counting, drawing, finding, and writing the number 6. They also counted out 6 ladybugs and glued them on their leaf. We also used play-dough to show all the attributes of number 6. When all that was done we through a birthday party for the insects. Today was Ash Wednesday and we talked a little bit about why we put a cross of Ashes on our forehead this morning. The students showed their understanding this afternoon during the service and showed that they really knew the importance of the Ashes. Overall it was a wonderful day!
I'm so Fancy....... Wow, everyone looked so great today. We loved seeing all of the amazing fancy outfits. Our boys and girls really enjoyed today. We had a blast celebrating Valentine's Day Fancy Nancy style. It was a great day. I took a lot of pictures today. As they say pictures are worth a 1,000 words. Enjoy! Sorry no pictures today. We just followed up with Tuesday's lesson for the groups to have both Ms. Tina's and Mr. Will's lessons. Not much exciting happened today. We are all geared up and ready for tomorrow! We cannot wait to celebrate Valentine's Day Fancy Nancy Style. If you haven't already brought in your cards to handout, please don't forget to bring them in tomorrow. Cannot wait to see everyone's Fancy Clothes tomorrow. Tomorrow there will be lots of photos to share.
Today was full of surprises! Today we talked about Clouds. We read a book about the different types of clouds and how clouds provide us with the precipitation that falls to the ground. We watched ivory soap turn into a fluffy cumulus cloud. Our 4 centers today all focused on clouds and weather. We filled out our froggy weather station handout, we played with our ivory clouds, we painted trays with shaving cream clouds, and we made cloud formations with cotton balls. Ms. Carly's lesson really made a mess today, but it was lots of fun. Yesterday and Today! Ms. Tina did send me some photos yesterday to post. However, by the time I got home and was ready to log on I was exhausted. Sorry guys! So i will combine today's and yesterdays post into one. Yesterday was Christian Education day. The boys and girls read the Bible Story about the Woman at the Well. The boys and girls then made their own wells with lots of different building materials. They also shared their own kind feelings on the jug pictures outside of our classroom. They also got to play with the water table and use wells with the water. All students rotated around these stations for the day. Today Ms. Tina talked about the letter Bb. She read a book about barns and barn animals. They practiced cutting, pasting, and finding B sound words. They also reviewed some other sounds by the animal that makes the particular sound in the barn. After all of that was finished they got to play with playdough and make their own barns and use lots of different animals in their barns. Mr. Will talked about the state Missouri. They read some books about Missouri and Ice Cream. They talked about how Missouri was the first state to invent Ice Cream Cones. The students were then able to create their own ice cream cone. After all our lessons were finished we went down stairs to exercise with the scooters, scarves, and music. We had a great morning! Reminder: Friday the 13th is our Valentine's Day Party, Fancy Nancy Style, please make sure you come dressed as fancy as you can. Also, bags are decorated and ready to be filled. Anytime this week you can drop your treats off and we will fill the bags. Everyone had a great time during Soccer Shots today. Because we are such a large group we have to slip in half for soccer shots. If the group wasn't at soccer shots they were upstairs in the classroom decorating their Valentine's Day bag for all their goodies. When we weren't decorating or at soccer shots we were building with blocks and legos. Our boys and girls love legos. We have some amazing builders in the classroom. We had our own very Lego land going on today. It is amazing to see such creativity. Tomorrow and Friday there will be no blog post. As I, Ms. Carly, will be away celebrating my 10 year anniversary in the Poconos. Ms. Tina might try and send me some pictures and what happened so I can try and post something for everyone. If not, I will be back to post for you all on Tuesday. Hope everyone has an awesome weekend! Half of the boys and girls tested their rafts today to see if they would float. Most had success, some realized that if their sail was to large or they had used too much play dough it would sink. They would make small changes and try again. The other group worked with the letter Pp. They talked about penguins and pigs. They spelled and wrote P words and placed them in their pockets. The groups will switch on Friday to do the opposite activity. Legos, Legos, Legos, all our boys and girls love legos. It was a wonderful day filled lots of love and fun. Remember tomorrow is Soccer Shots, you will need your sneakers. We had a wonderful surprise from Grammy Butz this morning. She dropped off yummy snacks for us to enjoy. We wanted to share our appreciation for her, first video. We also had a great time singing some songs, here is one of our favorites, second video. We finished our groundhog's day activities. With the cold weather we are still not able to go outside, however we went downstairs and did some wonderful scootering, dancing, and balancing beam practice. Please check your child's folder tonight, the Valentine's Day list is in there. These videos do say YouTube, but they are set to private, no one can search and find them on the internet. |
