It was a wonderful day. That tricky Leprechaun turned our milk, applesauce, and cookies green. We read some books and sang some songs about St. Patty's Day. We worked some more on our art show projects. Our pizza party was delicious. Thank you Shawn for the wonderful lucky charm rice krispies.
Tomorrow we are going to celebrate St. Patty's day with some yummy pizza. Our class raised the most money for Pennies for Patients and won a pizza party. So tomorrow we are going to cash in on our pizza party reward. We might have some wee little surprises with the pizza as well. Don't forget to wear green tomorrow!! Today the students worked on Art Show projects. The art show is going to be amazing. After all our hard work we got to go outside and enjoy another beautiful day with sunshine. Of course by tonight and tomorrow there will be rain. At least the rain melts the snow and will help the flowers grow next month. Yesterday color me mine came and visited our school. The students worked really hard painting their Easter egg plate. Cannot wait to see them all kilned and ready to go home. Reminder parents that Flower orders are due on Monday. Who doesn't love beautiful smelling flowers in the Spring and Easter. Yesterday was gorgeous! We took advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday. We took a nice long walk. After our walk we stopped at the blacktop and collected snow for our art project. We also got to play a little and get all that energy. When we came back in we painted with our snow we collected using food coloring. It was a wonderful day! Today we finally finished our math and language lesson from last week. Those were the lessons on number 8 and letter Aa. We also went for a nice walk before the rain came. Tomorrow is going to be absolutely wonderful. Spring is finally in the air. My apologizes, no pictures today. We are doing the opposite stations on Friday, I hope to show the pictures then. Today was a fairly normal day. We will see what tomorrow brings. Today Mr. Will taught a Social Studies lesson about the state of Michigan, focusing on Detroit and Motown. The students listen to some old time Motown music. They made records with a paper plate and built the city of Detroit with blocks. In Ms. Carly's group we finished up our rain sticks and drew a picture showing what we like to do in the rain. We added some clouds to our pictures.
We celebrated 3 birthdays today. That is right, I said 3. It was a crazy day. After celebrating so many birthdays the weather decided to get yucky on us and we had to dismiss early. We did get lessons in and done between singing happy birthday songs. Happy Birthday to Emma, Aiden, and our amazing teacher Ms. Tina. Thank you for the yummy treats that were brought in and shared with us. We enjoyed each and every one. For lessons, Ms. Tina introduced the letter Aa. They read a book about an alligator, "There is an alligator under my bed" and placed game with short a sounds in the middle of the words. Then they drew a picture showing where their pet alligator would be in their house. After all that they worked on their letter Aa worksheet and played with alligators in the water. In Ms. Carly's lesson we talked about the number 8 and all its attributes. We filled in our math board. We read about a spider and her 8 legs. We then made number 8 spiders and play-dough spiders and added 8 legs. We had a great day celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday. He had a lot of fun activities, crafts, and stories. We rotated two times during the morning and one time in the afternoon. For morning snack we had yummy fish bowl treats with a swimming fish. Then our rotations began. Ms. Tina read the wonderful first book by Dr. Seuss, "To Think That I Saw It on Mulberry St." Then they came up with their own street name and drew a pictures showing what crazy things would be on their street. Then they got to create Mulberry St. with cars, blocks, and people. Mr. Will read the famous 50 word book by Dr. Seuss, "Green Eggs and Ham". Then they made their own green eggs. We also tasted green eggs and "s"ham. They then had to write down on their egg picture if they liked or did not like green eggs and ham. Ms. Carly read the all time favorite book by Dr. Seuss, "The Cat in the Hat". Then we made edible cat hats with a cookie, juju coins, and icing. Of course after making them we got to eat them. Then Ms. Carly also read the Graduate book by Dr. Seuss, "Oh the Places You Will Go". We then colored our own hot air balloon which will be our new door. It was an amazing day with some amazing stories. Happy Birthday Lucy! Thank you for the yummy Treats. Today was a follow up to yesterday's lessons. The children that were with Ms. Tina yesterday came to Ms. Carly and vise versa. We celebrated Lucy's 5th birthday with a yummy cookie treat. It's Friday! Monday we will be celebrating a great Author all day. It's Dr. Seuss's birthday on Monday and we are going to celebrate his great works with lots of great crafts, foods, and books. If you have any Dr. Seuss clothing feel free to wear it Monday, it is not obligated. I know Walmart usually brings out some Dr. Seuss clothing this time of year. Dr. Seuss is one of my favorite authors. It is be a day of great fun. Today we were right on schedule with all our activities, no surprises. Today Ms. Tina talked about the letter Kk and the boys and girls practiced reading and saying different words that start with the letter K. They also heard a story about Kindergarten and they drew a picture for their own book. Decorated a key and made a key chain for their keys. After all that they got to draw K's in sand with keys. In Ms. Carly's math lesson, we talked about the number seven. We put all the attributes of seven on our math board. We talked about how we get the number before and the number after seven. We read a book about seven magical hats. We worked on our number seven handout. Then we split up, one group worked on finding all the magical seven items from the book in the beans, while the other group drew a picture showing what their magical hat would do. They also got to count out seven pirate stickers and stick them to their magic hat. Today was a very busy work day, but we rocked it. Among all that work we also re-organized the classroom again! |
